Why is that so? Shouldn’t one in the habit of waking up at 7am or so every weekday have some sort of resistance to morning grogginess? Part of the experience of coming to college is interacting with other students living with you. Many choose to dorm their first year, and strong friendships created during this period last for the rest of college. However, this takes some energy investment, whether you decide to stay up later to hang out or to meet up during midday. The additional freedom to customize your schedule and to sacrifice sleep or not often results in students staying up later at night, and thus waking up later in the morning. For a non-morning person, there will be some days where you wake up, and just plop back into bed.
Of course, the above is only a generalization of an affliction which weakens us in the morning, like a vampire to sunlight. It all really depends on the person. I normally try to avoid taking morning classes because I tend to wake up on the later side. I know others who wake up at or before 6am, and feel fresh. I also know others who have a power nap sleep schedule, where they sleep intermittently for an hour or so every three or four hours. It all really depends on you. If you feel great in the morning, then you probably know yourself best, and morning classes shouldn’t be a hindrance for you
Also, the above example is actually applicable to real life. Many students do in fact find themselves no longer having the energy or the willpower to wake up in mornings like they did in the past. The point is, college is different from middle and high school and the new environment will change the person’s interactions. Although it may not be as exaggerated as in the example, the truth is adapting to a new environment takes energy and discipline. And like I said earlier, you know yourself best, so if you can handle it, that’s great. The only difficulty is to recognize your own patterns, and to see if sometimes it would be more efficient to take a later class date than to skip every 8am for the semester.
