If you find yourself in a situation in which you feel pressured into drinking, just remember that it is your body. If you went out that night or day having no intentions to drink, stay true to yourself and politely refuse drinks that are forcibly coming your way. It is also beneficial to have a game plan in your head—if you know that you do not want to drink, keep your mindset on refusing drinks; if you know that you do want to drink, keep your mindset on pacing and being self-aware. Having a buddy that wants to refrain from drinking with you makes it easier to stay sober. If saying no is something you struggle with, it may be easier to keep yourself away from those situations altogether.
If you do decide to indulge in alcohol, just remember to pace yourself and try to drink a glass of water for every serving of alcohol. Alcohol is not negative, but like anything, in large amounts it can be very dangerous. Make sure that you are never apologetic for your personal choices, because at the end of the night you will have to deal with your drunkenness and the hangover in the morning (or not)! Stay safe.
